珠江三角洲地区,水网密布,河湖众多,是民风淳厚的鱼米之乡,是经济的发展使该地区农业人口的工业化走在了全国的前列,新兴的诸多产业充分利用地源优势而成为当地的经济支柱.也有个别行业在发展中走向歧路,在成就了自己的同时,也向社会提供了过多的副产品,比如民间拆船业.

Since the reform and opening-up, peasants in Guangdong province have been trading in ship breaking and sale of scrapped components. Thus, there emerged the trades of steel rolling, ship repair and selling. Ships coming out as a result of this, without registration, survey and business certificates, are rampant within this area, which are mainly operated by private owners and smuggling groups. Such has disturbed the shipping, economic and social order and seriously polluted the environment. So, the municipal government of Shunde in Guangzhou Province launched a clamp down over these ships, which as a consequence ruled out the shipbreaking business in this area.
