LET OUR RED FLAG FLUTTER ON THE BLUE SEAS

在碧浪翻涌的茫茫大海上,来往的船舶划出一道道优美的弧线,构成各国之间的交通命脉.而高悬于船桅上那些五颜六色的船旗,是一个个特殊的符号,昭示着该国强盛.船旗,是根据该国法律登记取得该国国籍而悬挂于船桅上的标志,代表着国家的尊严.<中华人民共和国海商法>规定,船舶经依法登记取得中华人民共和国国籍,有权悬挂中华人民共和国国旗航行.

The bright-colored five-star flag used to sail to various ports around the world together with our ocean-going vessels, revealing the image and strength of new China. However, in recent years, with the changes of national policies, some of ocean-going vessels lost governmental assistance and began to fly the 'flag of convenience'. This has led to runaway state asset and loss of tax resources, affected the revenues of foreign currencies and weakened our position as a shipping power. The reason why such vessels changed to fly foreign flags is that domestic shipping enterprises want to obtain more facilities and more preferential financing conditions from foreign countries. At this, our Government should learn from international successful experience, update/improve our international shipping policies at the new stage, let the five-star red flag wave on the oceans and strive for the world shipping power.
