A Discussion on the Urban-scape with Chinese Characteristics

我国的总目标是建设具有中国特色的社会主义社会,城市景观也应以我中华的民族特色而自立于世界景观艺术之林。我们要建设有中国特色、地方风格和适应现代社会生活发展需要的城市景观。中华民族文化传统的理念是人与天调,天人共荣。这是天人合一的文化总纲在城市景观理念上的反映。

Constructing socialistic society with Chinese characteristics is our general target. Our urban scape should also stand proudly with Chinese national flavor in the family of world scape arts. This construction needs the urban scape with Chinese distinctive features, local flavor and which is conformed to domestic development of modem social life. 'Harmony of man with nature' and 'Man shares prosperity with nature' are traditional idea of Chinese national culture. They are also the reflection of the general idea 'Man is an integral part of nature' on urban scape planning.
