Chinese power consumption increased by some 15 percent in 2003,reaching a level of 1,844.4 billion KWH.In early 2003,newly built power capacity installations failed to meet rapidly growing power consumption demands,resulting in power shortages in certain regions that by the third quarter of the year became widespread.
