The (2+1)-dimensional Broer-Kaup equation with variable coefficients are reduced to the familiar Burgers equation with variable coefficients by a simple transformation. Some new exact solutions of the (2+1)-dimensional Broer-Kaup equation with variable coefficients are obtained by the use of the homogeneous method and the tanh-function method which are widely used techniques in recent years.
