As the old oil fields in East China are currently facing more and morepressure to keep their crude oil production stable in the past few years owing to the high watercut, PetroChina Jidong Oil Field has become a rising star in the country's oil and gas explorationand production sector. Jidong Oil Field Company is a relatively small regional company amongPetroChina's onshore oil fields across the country, with a registered operational area of 6300square kilometers. PetroChina has a registered area of 1.05 million square kilometers in total foroil exploration and development. However, Jidong Oil Field sees a rapid growth in its oilexploration and development business in 2002. With the net value of assets totaling 1.3 billionyuan, the oil field has a workforce of more than 1700 employees, of which there are 271 people withthe middle-level professional titles and 61 senior technical professionals.
