Ten Topics on Following Tao Yuanming

南北朝以来,文人多方面地效法陶渊明。择取雅号,投合其情趣;喜爱一物,逼似其嗜好;粪土王侯,继承其精神;从业农桑,发扬其传统;恣意游遨,摆出其姿式;关心民瘼,具有其胸怀;写田园诗,呼应其创作;亦步亦趋,模仿其诗体;才高者,祖述其诗风;中巧者,化用其章句。学陶已成为一个综合概念,成为一种复杂现象。

Since the Northern and Southern Dynasty, scholars followed Tao Yuanming in many aspects: selecting refined names catering to his temperament and interest; being fond for something to intimate his hobbies; belittling the royals to heir his spirit; taking part in agriculture to carry his tradition; visiting and inviting to show his attitude; caring the people to take on his mind; writing pastoral poetry to study his creative style. 'Following Tao Yuanming's example' were a comprehensive concept and a complex phenomenon.
