Zou Weilian and the Coastal Defense of Fujian Province in the Late Ming Dydasty

明朝末年,闽省海防废弛,海盗红夷之患严重。邹维琏巡抚福建,督办海防,力剿海盗,平灭红夷,劳绩甚著,然而在昏暗的朝政旋涡中,本为建奇功者却成为罪人。

In the late Ming Dynasty, because of the powerless of its coastal defense in Fujian province, its coasal areas were often attacted by the pirates, When Zou Weilian was appointed as the supervisor. Having strengthened the coastal defense and eradicated the pirates, he made a great contribution to Fujian's coastal defense. However, Zou Weilian was regarded as an offender at last, just due to the darkness and inhumane political atmosphere in the late Ming Dynasty.
