Artistic Qualities with Critical Spirit——Humble opinions on Wang Limin's Calligraphy

80年代初期,王立民就读于哈尔滨师范大学期间,师从游寿。作为"金石书风"的第四代传人,他既在精神内涵、意韵意趣上与先师们保持一致,又注重对自己不断地否定、变化、超越,以提升艺术品格,从而使有了一定历史积淀的门户书风得以动态发展。特别是经历了"以碑化帖"的实践探索之后,其用笔少了刻意的涩行顿挫,更显得自然流畅;结字由放而收,由纵而擒,意态洒脱而严谨。从而使其书法作品呈现出纵横俯仰、开张整合、恣肆多姿、仪威犷悍的艺术风格。

In the early period of the 1980s, Wang Limin, studying in Harbin Normal University, formally took You Shou as his master. As the fourth generation follower of 'Jinshi calligraphic style,' on one hand, he inherits and passes on the unified spiritual connotations and charm from his tutors; on the other hand, he constantly undertakes selfinnovations to develop his own styles. Especially, after a valuable explorations socalled 'form a rubbing from a stone inscription,' his style shows more nature and fluent.
