The Future of Europe and the Process of Globalization, Integration and Modernization

在过去的40余年时间里,欧洲人克服了重重困难,在一体化的道路上取得了重大进展。但是,由于时代的变迁,尤其是在全球化的背景之下,欧洲建设面临着新的挑战。欧洲的前途,取决于它对全球化的全面适应能力,对一体化的创新吸纳程度,以及在新现代化进程中所取得的实际成就。而欧洲联合和欧洲改革正是它达到这些目标的可靠途径。本文拟从全球化、一体化与现代化三个角度,说明欧洲前途系于其联合与改革。

Over the last 40 years, Europe went quite far on the road to integrate by overcoming various kinds of difficulties. Nevertheless, Europe is increasingly facing new challenges under the dramatic changes in the world and globalization. The future of Europe is very much depends on to what extent Europe could adapt itself to globalization, its initiatives in the process of integration, and what it could establish in the process of a new round modernization. By examining globalization, integration and modernization, this paper argues that all these goals could only be achieved by integration and reform.
