Phallic consciousness is D. H. Lawrence s deep meditation on the genders in his final years. As a 'phallic' novel, Lady Chatterley' s Loner fully represents and illustrates this ideal and Utopia solution to the relation between man and woman. Lawrence attempts to recover the natural balance between man and woman. His concept of phallus, therefore, includes both the male and the female qualities, representing the union of the two genders. The phallic consciousness is in fact the writer's extreme appeal for the return of primitive human nature as well as a radical reflection on the past and modern civilization.
