摘要
济慈公开宣称 ,他不是一个基督教徒。从他的诗歌看 ,他不是一个宗教诗人 ,也不是一个理性的诗人。正如多数批评家所持的观点 ,济慈是一位耽于感官享受的唯美诗人 ,世俗之美是济慈诗歌追求的终极目标。但这并不能解释济慈为何如此钟情于感性之美 ,而非理性的思忖。虽然济慈热爱生活 ,采取入世的态度对待人生 ,但事实上 ,济慈并非一个仅仅止于感性经验的诗人 ,而是一个有深厚基督教情结的人。这一点 ,可以从济慈的生平、诗歌及其诗学理论中得到证实 ,然而 ,济慈学者往往没有注意到这一方面。
John Keats claims himself to be a nonChristian, which is also seemingly evident in his poetry. Superficially, he is not a poet of reason, just as generally held by critics, only a poet fully absorbed in sensuousness and the beauty for beautys sake which he takes as his final ends of poetry as well as an earthly aim. However, this cannot explain why Keats takes such tremendous delight in the enjoyment of the sensuousness instead of reason. Keats in fact does not stop at the level of the sensuous pleasure though he wildly loves earthly life. His religious, namely, the Christian complex can be seen from his life, his poetry and his poetics and this has been unfortunately turned a blind eye to by critics.
