This paper briefly discusses the scope of application of main types of extraposition, their constraining factors, and the syntactic possibility of replacing extraposition by topicalization, attempting to show that undoubted extrapositions (including both extraposition from subject and extraposition from object) should be always or invariably described as optional transformation rather than obligatory transformation.
