Literary works play a unique role in recording history. In the novel A City of Flowers, MASUJI IBUSE fabricates a peaceful life of the citizens of Singapore under the occupation of Japanese soldiers and eulogizes Japanese external war. The reasons for this lie in some elements of the author himself, as well as the highhanded fascist government during the war. During the war, most Japanese intellectuals did not understand or doubt the war ideologically, which leads to their ready belief and blind following of the external diplomatic policy of the Japanese government. However, historical truth can not be covered by literary fiction. Writers undertake great responsibility in 'spreading and inheriting history'. The study of writers and literary works can not only help us learn the relationship between Japanese writers and the war but also provide an approach to the research of war problems.
