An Analysis of the Fluctuation of Commodity Tax and the Causes during the Northern Song Dynasty

北宋时期,商税呈现明显的周期波动特征,引起北宋商税周期波动的主要因素是战争和自然灾害。由此反映出的经济意义是:农业部门对北宋商品经济的发展贡献率高;政府作为最大的商品购买主体对北宋商品经济发展起着重要的支撑作用。

During the Northern Song Dynasty, commodity tax fluctuated periodically, which was caused mainly by frequent wars and natural disasters. From the economic perspective, it is obvious that agricultural industries contributed greatly to the development of commodity economy at that time and the Northern Song Government, as the biggest purchaser of the produce, played greater roles in the sustentation of the economic development.
