The Realization and Related Discussion of Number Category in Chinese Nouns

本文专门考察分析汉语可数名词在没有前置数量结构限定的情况下如何表现数的范畴以及如何辨认其所指是单数还是复数的规律 ,并对相关的部分语用功能进行初步分析。通过对大量语言实例的考察 ,可以发现汉语可数名词在没有前置数量结构限定的情况下 ,其单、复数大致可以从其所处的句法结构的相关组成成分。

This thesis aims at analyzing how number category of Chinese countable nouns works when there is no numeral attributors before them,and how the identification between nouns in singular form and plural form can be made. Based on the analysis of data, three ways of realizing number category can be found: realization via the syntactic components, realization via texts or discourses, and realization via background or environment of the language use. Study on category of number in Chinese is helpful for language comprehension, language learning and translation as well as language processing on computers.
