摘要 熟练地运用各种衔接手段以创建连贯流畅的篇章应该成为考察学生英语写作能力高低的重要标准之一。本文旨在从指称、替代省略、连接和词汇衔接四个方面来描述和分析非英语专业大学生作文中的衔接与连贯失误并结合大学英语教学实践,就如何培养学生各种衔接手段的运用能力,从而增强作文的连贯性提出建设性的对策。这些对策包括了进行篇章衔接手段的系统训练以及学生作文的自查,具有较大的可行性。 Using various cohesive devices to achieve coherent discouree should become one of the major criteria to assess students' English writing ability. This paper aims to describe and analyze cohesive and coherence errors in the English compositions of non-English major college students in Chongcjing university from the perspective of reference, substitution and ellipsis, conjunction and lexical cohesion. Furthermore, two feasible countermeasures to develop students' ability to use those cohesive devices, which take pedagogical practice of college English teaching in-to account, are also presented. These include how to provide svstematic training in cohesion and coherence and how to guide students to check their own work for relevant errors.
