Ryukyu, once a country subordinated to the Ming and Qing Empire, was destroyed for three times, with all its cultural relics missing. Cheng Shunze is an important poet of Chinese poetry whose poetry collection, Xuetang's Poetry Script Composed During His Trip to Beijing , was not rediscovered until recently. This essay comments upon the work of this poet, focusing on the poet's admiration of the Empire, his faithful serving of official duties. It also analyses the three different psyche of the Qing Empire, Ryukyu, and the poet so as to illuminate the background of his writing.
