Reflections on Poetry Teaching for English Majors

诗歌作为文学的精华 ,对培养学生的人文精神起着相当重要的作用 ,但英语诗歌在选材和教法方面存在的误区 ,使诗歌的教育作用没有得到很好的发挥。本文探讨了作者在英语诗歌教学中采用的示范讲解法和比较学习法 ,以期对英诗教学有所裨益。

As the essence of literature, poetry plays a fairly important role in cultivating students' appreciation of the human spirit. This role, however, is not brought into full play due to problems ranging from material selection to teaching techniques. The authors of this paper have applied demonstrative and comparative approaches to teaching English poetry. They hope that the paper will benefit both the teacher and the student in the teaching and learning of English poetry.
