In novels prior to the Tang Dynasty existed a kind of novel written with longevity and immortal-seeking as its theme. Writings constituting this type experienced two stages from necromancer novels to Taoist novels. One of the most written characters in this writing is Emperor Hanwu who had been evolved successively in novels till the Six Dynasties. This literary figure vividly interprets the evolution changing from necromancy to Taoism, and mainly shows the successive change from necromancer novels to Taoist novels.
