弘一法师是一位才气横溢的艺术家,又是一代名僧。他有全面的艺术修养,一生在诗词、书画、篆刻、音乐、戏剧等方面都有很深的造诣。就其一生成就而言,篆刻并非其主项。但就其在篆刻艺术上所取得的杰出成就,以及在篆刻界的活动地位而言,是值得我们作一番研究的。

Hongyi,a buddist priest,as regarded to be Master of the Law,was a creative artist as well.He had a wide range ofknowledge and various great achievements in poetry,Chinese traditional painting,calligraphy,seal-cutting,music,and operaetc.In all his great achievements,seal-cutting was not the main one.However,he did also achieve a lot in this area,and mostimportantly,as the elite of society,his influential activities about enhancing the art of seal-cutting was meaningful .In short,itis valuable for us to Study and uncover his tribute hereafter.
