On the Consciousness of Death in Xu Zhi-mo' s Poems and Prose

徐志摩的死亡意识是矛盾而复杂的,他在深刻体认死亡的悲剧性前提下,又体现出消解死亡的悲剧性倾向。这一矛盾的死亡意识之形成与当时的时代环境、诗人的人生经历和艺术追求有关,也受中西方文化环境中的死亡意识的制约和影响。

The paper argues that Xu Zhi-mo suffered from a conflicting and complicated ' consciousness of death' , as reflected in his poems and prose. On the one hand, he was highly aware of the tragedy of death, but one the other, he was determined to dissolve it. His state of mind as such is correlated with the historical development , personal experiences and artistic pursuits. Meanwhile, it is also subject to the constraints and impact of the death consciousness in Chinese and western cultures.
