Tetra-(N,N-dimethylaminophenyl)porphyrin(TDMAPP) reacts with n-C_(16)H_(33)Br to give quaternary bromides of the amphiphilie porphyrin containing four long aliphatic chains. Its Cu, Zn and Co complexes have been prepared. These porphyrins are capable of forming Langmuir-Blodgett films. The UV-Visible spectra of the L-B films as well as of the solid compounds indicate that the interations between molecules in two cases are different.
