摘要
弗莱克斯纳认为,美国学院杂乱无章的课程设置违反了博雅教育精神。他指出,专业教育、学制改革、人的发展要求美国大学本科教育应是有目的的通识教育。为此,美国学院应从课程体制和管理体制等方面进行改革。弗莱克斯纳提倡通识教育的思想对于我国本科教育的健康发展有借鉴意义。
Flexner thought that the disordered curriculum of American colleges was contrary to the spirit of liberal education. He pointed out that professional education, school reform, the development of man required American college education to be a general education. Therefore, American colleges should reform in curriculum, administration, etc. Flexner's idea of advocating general education is helpful to the healthy development of our undergraduate education.
