英文摘要的时态、语态问题

Tenses and Voices in English Abstract Writing

目前对于中文科技论文的英文摘要的时态、语态问题有不同的论述 ,读者不易把握。本文归纳介绍有关论述 ,并给出了对 2 0 0 1_2 0 0 3近 2年的中外 10 0篇学术论文英文摘要抽样统计结果 ,分析了中外期刊的英文摘要的时态、语态差别及其原因。进而根据国际英文摘要写作的新动态 ,试谈对此问题的看法。要点是其写作应符合国际发展动态 ,符合具体论文类型、内容及其摘要特点 ,最重要的是应了解打算投稿的期刊 。

Different arguments have been put forward about t he tense and voice that should be used in Englishs for scientific and tec hnical papers, and they have been probably difficult to grapple with for many re aders. We shall therefore review relevant arguments on this issue, and present s tatistical results of a survey of 100 English abstracts published between 2001 a nd 2003 in journals at home and abroad. We shall also analyze the differences be tween Chinese and other international journals regarding the use of tenses and v oices in English abstracts, followed by an explanation of the reasons thereof. R ecommendations will also be made as to the composition of English abstracts: Eng lish abstracts should conform to international common practices, particularly th e requirements and guidelines of the journals or index systems to which the arti cles will be submitted.
