一代廉吏张伯行述评

A Comment on Zhang Boxing,An Honest Official of the Time

张伯行在清康熙时是名震一时的廉吏 ,被誉为“天下清官第一” ,作为一个地方官他发挥了儒家治国思想的积极方面 ,以躬行实践为己任。他从“民本”基点出发 ,忠于职守 ,精心筹划 ,治理水患 ,赈饥济贫 ,兴利除弊的业绩为人们所传诵 ;他一芥不取 ,一尘不染 ,自甘清苦 ,勤政利民的高风亮节赢得了百姓的崇敬和拥戴。他正直不阿、不畏权贵与邪恶势力进行不屈不挠的斗争精神在历史上留下了深深的印记。尽管他所作的一切都是为封建统治服务的 ,但他能从封建统治的根本利益出发 ,忠实地实施以养民为先 ,教化为本的传统儒家思想 ,为官清廉 ,反贪除弊 ,这对缓和当时的阶级矛盾 ,保护人民的权益 ,发展社会经济文化 。

Zhang Boxing was a noted honest official in the period of Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty, known as the first honest official in the country. As a local official he carried forward the positive idea of governing the country by Confucious. He regarded his own practice as his duty. His fundamental principle was “people are the foundation”.He was loyal to his responsibility. He made plan meticulously. He brought flood under control. He aided the famine victim and the poor. His good deeds were spread by people. He lived a plain life. His diligencee and his good service won the people's reverence and support. He was fairminded. He was not afraid of bigwigs and waged struggle against the vicious forces. Though what he had done was for the feudalist rule, he was able to be honest taking office and opposed corruption. It was of positive significance for alleviating class contradiction, for the benefit of the people and the development of social economy and culture.
