"和而不同"是中共中央和中国政府一以贯之的外交战略思维。胡锦涛同志关于国际关系的纲领性论述,同样体现了"和而不同"的思想。对于当前中美之间的利益冲突和价值观摩擦,应立足化解,增信释疑,坦示不同,信守原则;对于美国领导人的"赞扬"和拉拢,应坚持"和而不从",绝不"结盟"。

Harmony but nonalignment' is the strategic thinking of diplomacy adhered consistently by the Chinese communist party and the Chinese government. President Hu Jing-tao's guiding treatise on the international relationships has similarly embodied the thought of 'harmony but nonalignment'. In regard to the interest conflicts and value friction between today's China and America, a reasonable way is to resolve contradiction, increase trust, show their differences and adhere to the principles. In face to American leaders' 'praise' and 'drawing in', we must take the attitude of 'harmony but no following' and reject any alignment proposal.
