The paper aims to explore the characteristics and laws of interpretation by the analysis of the objective environment, language medium, the role of the interpreter and the psychological process of interpretation. On such a basis, the paper presents a discussion of some techniques in consecutive interpretation and simultaneous interpretation such as expression technique, note-taking technique, balance between listening and speaking, proper chopping by units of meaning and anticipation through contexts etc.
