Deng Xiaoping has made great contributions to the innovation of productivity theory. His ideas on 'the standard of productivity' and 'the Motivation of Reform' have enriched the contents of the productive forces and set up the goal for the development of productivity. Most important of all, his idea of ' building a fairly well-off society' has provides an important theoretical foundation for the establishment and implementation of the strategy for China's socialist economic development.
