An Approach to the Feminist Ideas of The Scarlet Letter

《红字》是19世纪美国伟大的浪漫主义作家纳撒尼尔·霍桑的一部惊世之作。本文通过对《红字》中女主人公Hester顽强的生存意识的分析和反叛行为的透视,着意发掘作品中表现出的Hester的女性意识,从而揭示出作品积极的社会意义。

The Scarlet Letter is the most famous novel of Nathaniel Hawthorne,one of the greatest romantic American fiction writers in the19th century.The SL,by depicting the heroine Hester's miserable life,reflects the woman's status quo of the17th century Puritan America.This paper is intended to make an approach to the feministic consciousness embodied from her tenacious existence consciousness to her three rebellious actions so that it is expected to interpret the novel from a newer and broader point of view and bring out the active and realistic social significance of the novel.
