The function of layout in editing and publishing of sci tech periodicals is described briefly. Some essential factors such as suitable proportion, symmetry and asymmetry, static and moving, harmonious and unitary, strengthening and weakening in the layout design are proposed according to the distinctive characteristics of sci tech periodicals.
