Developing Translation Ability in the Teaching of Translation

翻译课是英语专业教学大纲规定的课程。传统的翻译教学法已不能适应信息时代的需要;在外语教学中应注重培养实用型英语人才;大学英语教师在教学过程中应引导学生在理论指导下从事翻译技能训练的实践,以提高他们的翻译能力。

Translation is a course required by the syllabus for undergraduate English majors. This article argues that the traditional teaching method of the course is not compatible with the needs of the information age, and stresses the importance of training application-oriented English personnel in language teaching. It suggests that a college English teacher should, in the process of teaching, lead his students in translation skills training practice under the guidance of theories so as to improve their translation abilities.
