Lightening Soul——On the Relationship between Lu Xun and Buddhism

20世纪初,鲁迅处于彷徨之期,佛学如同一道灵光温暖了他的灵魂,他的精神与佛学产生了某种契合。形成鲁迅与佛教的因缘,我们以为有以下三个方面的因素:民间文化中神佛内容的薰陶;当时的社会佛学思潮及其恩师章太炎的影响;自身所处的精神困境导致的对佛教文化的亲近。但在与佛教的关系中,他始终保持着个人的思想和精神独立。

In the beginning of 20th Century, Lu Xun was in the period of hesitation. It was Buddhism that lighted his soul which was in harmony with his spirit. We believe that there are three causes: the edifying influence of the Buddhistic content of folk culture; the influences of social Buddhistic ideas and his dear teacher Zhang Taiyan; his closure to Buddhistic culture from his own spiritual setbacks. But in his relationship with Buddhism, he always kept independent in personal ideas and spirit.
