On the Origination of Su Shi's Literary Production

一般论者以凤翔诗为苏轼的最早期作品,而笔者认为,苏轼真正意义上的最早期作品应该是其二次出蜀赴京时所作七十八首南行诗。南行诗是苏轼文学创作的主要起萌,具有不可替代的研究价值。我们对苏轼文学创作的全面观照,实在不能脱离开南行诗来进行。

Ordinary critics take Su Shi's poem about the flying phoenix as his earliest writing, for which the author holds a different idea. It is the seventy-eight poems composed on southward movement when he went to Beijing from Shu for the second time that belong to his earliest works. These poems are genuinely the origination of his literary career, which enjoys unequal value of study. The comprehensive study of Su Shi's poems cannot digress from his poems on the southward movement.
