The poor hole quality and low penetration rate is the big problem of drilling engineering since the formation dip angle is big, the formation anisotropy great, and the formation natural deviating strong for the big dip angle structure in well Huo 10 block of Xinjiang Oil Field. The article theoretically discusses the natural deviating force of the formation and the influence of the make-up of string on the hole quality. Aiming to the geological features of the high steep and big dip structure in well Huo 10 block, the article analyzes the methods and techniques for deviation control and faster penetration that may be applied in this area. The article has the guiding role for deviation control and faster penetration in well Huo 10 block.
