求其知:一种另类的借鉴观——周作人与西欧国家的文学译介

Contributions by Zhou Zuoren to the Translation of Hesperian Literature

纵观周作人毕生的译介工作,我们可以看到几种明显的倾向,一是日本文学,二是古希腊文学,三是东、北欧"被损害民族"的文学,最后是以英、法为代表的西欧国家的文学。一般认为,周氏对西欧国家的文学作家与作品并没有表现出太大的兴趣,而事实表明,他在这些国家的文学作品的译介方面也做出了应有的努力和贡献。

It is safe to assume that Zhou Zuoren has not concerned himself much with the translation of Western European literature after we have a panoramic browse through his career in literary translation. But it is also true that he occasionally takes a smattering of taste of it albeit the concentration of this small offshoot is mainly on certain works of some authors from Britain, France and several other countries. As with his formidable indulgence in Japanese and ancient Greek literary legacies, so is true of his attitude towards Western European culture and literature.
