In this paper, the synthesis and purification method of 2-mercapto-1,3,4-thiadiazole were introduced. The influences of the reactans ratio, the solvent consumptions and the refining temperature and time were studied in details, and its structure was confirmed. The overall yield was 55%, the purity of the product reached 99%.
