江泽民同志提出在新的历史条件下,要从战略的高度重视民族、宗教问题;从社会主义初级阶段现实状况出发,正确认识我国现阶段民族、宗教问题;在社会主义市场经济的总体框架下确定民族、宗教工作的指导方针;从社会全面进步的高度确定民族、宗教工作的基本政策。深刻理解党的第三代领导集体的民族、宗教思想,对做好新时期民族、宗教工作,巩固和发展我国最广泛的爱国统一战线,推动有中国特色社会主义建设事业的发展,具有重要的理论和现实意义。

Jiang Zemin proposes that,under the new historical conditions,great importance should be attached to the problem of nationality and religion from strategic point of view,the problem of nationality and religion be correctly analyzed based on the real situation at the preliminary stage of socialism,guiding principle for the work of nationality and religion be established on the basis of socialist market economy,and the basic policies be defined from the progress of the whole society.The deep understanding of the thoughts on nationality and religion is both significant and meaningful for the work on nationality and religion,the consolidation and development of the widespread patriotic united front and the promotion of the socialist construction cause with Chinese characteristics.
