民主教育家鲁立刚系20世纪前半叶湖南著名的地理教员和中学校长。他潜心教育事业,50岁之前教书育人,之后著书立说。其教育思想主要有尊师重教及重名轻利观、用人唯贤及言传身教观、救国育才及文理并重观。他身体力行的教育实践与“朴实沉毅”的教育思想至今熠熠生辉。

The Democratic educator Lu Ligang was a famous geography teacher and middle school master of Hunan province in the early of twentieth century. He devoted himself to the educational cause, imparting knowledge and educating people before his fifty years-old and writing books to expound doctrine after that age. His educational thinking mainly are respecting the teacher and teaching, views of focus on fame and making light of profit, using talents only and teaching by personal example as well as verbal instruction, education saving country and the equal importance of liberal arts and science. His educational thought of earnestly practice what one advocates and ″down-to-earth″ is still of dazzling brilliant.
