摘要
本文调查了跨文化的论说文语篇的对比修辞.对来自北京机械工业学院50名中国学生50篇汉语作文与英国Exeter University的30名英国学生作文进行了定量分析,分析数据表明中国和英国大学生母语作文在修辞特点中有三个方面明显不同,即:论述的焦点、问题解决类型、问题的讨论类型.中国大学生的母语作文和英语(L2)作文往往显示出相同的修辞策略.本文对二外英语教学,特别是写作训练,具有参考价值.
This study examines the cross cultural contrastive rhetoric in argumentative writing. To achieve this purpose, 50 Chinese students from Beijing Institute of Machinery and 30 English students from Exeter University in Great Britain are asked to write an essay on an assigned topic in their mother tongue. The data suggest that L1 Chinese writings are significantly different from L1 English writing in three of selected rhetorical features, e.g. focus of the argument, type of the problem discussion, type of solution. Chinese students tend to display similar rhetorical strategies related to argument focus, solution type, type of problem discussion in both L1 and L2 writings. Findings from this study have implications for ESL research and writing pedagogy.
