Review of the Cultural Advantage in Japan's Modernization Based on a Cultural Comparison of Japanese and Russian Cultures

日俄两国文化的差异主要表现在政治制度和教育制度两大领域。日俄两国几乎同时于19世纪中叶走上现代化道路,但由于两国文化的差异,两国的现代化是通过不同模式实现的。这种不同的发展模式的背后,反映出不同的强国意识和不同的发展战略。通过比较可以看出日本现代化中的文化优势。探讨这一问题,对正在实现现代化的国家尤其是促进我国现代化建设有着重要的现实意义,从中我们可以借鉴和汲取某些经验和教训,以便早日实现我国的现代化。

The differences between the Japanese and Russian cultures exist chiefly in such two major fields as their political systems and educational systems. Despite the fact that the two countries started the modernization process almost at the same time in the middle of the 19th century, their modernization respectively has been realized by different means as a result of the differences between the cultures of the two countries. Reflected behind such different development modes are different big power consciousness and different development strategies and, through comparison, the cultural advantages in the modernization of Japan can be seen. An in-depth study of this issue will be beneficial for China engaged in her own modernization, in which we can learn from the experiences and lessons and, therefore, speed up the modernization process of the country.
