19世纪中叶 ,在其他传教士关注于反对鸦片贸易之时 ,卢公明却另辟蹊径 ,从陋俗这一角度提出了自己对吸食鸦片这一现象的认识 ,并由此向人们提出了戒除鸦片、信仰基督的精神说教。

In the middle of the nineteenth century, when other missionaries concentrated on the objection to opium trade, Justus Doolittle presented his opinions on smoking opium and took it as undesirable customs. On the basis of his distinct angle, he presented his spiritual preach, which advocated smokers gived up opium by converting themselves to Christ.
