Between the Source Language System and the Target Language System——From the Perspective of Toury's Translation Universals

GideonToury在专著《描述翻译学及其他》中提出了两条翻译的普遍规律 ,从其内容表述上看与归化和异化有相似之处 ,但他基于描述翻译研究而得出的结论证明了译作是源语语言文化和目标语语言文化的杂合体。译文本身是一种独特的语言变体 ,我们不应该过于苛求它的纯粹性。

The two translation universals Toury put forward in his work Descriptive Translation Studies and Beyond ,bear certain similarities to the concepts of domestication and foreignization. These translation universals,concluded from the perspective of descriptive translation studies,confirm that the translated text is a hybrid of the source language system and the target language system. The translated text itself is a unique variety of language,and we should not make excessive demands on its purity.
