As analog video collections are digitized and new video is born in digital form, computer users will have unprecedented access to video material. Based on this observation, the authors assume that video materials can be adequately stored and distributed with appropriate rights management, as well as indexed to facilitate effective information retrieval. They further more discuss relative issues such as the metadata implementation, the linking of metadata and the video archives as well as the ways of end user's access to the archives.
