Non-mediated document delivery is widely used in foreign libraries. It eliminates the 'middleman' between library user and the document provider, thus decreases the time and cost of document delivery and improves the service efficiency. The paper discusses the necessity and possibility of implementing this kind of service in China by analyzing relevant studies based on the experiences of foreign libraries.
