A Rough Process of Development——The Evolution of Chinese Historiography in the Latter Half of the 20^(th) Century

20世纪后半叶 ,中国历史学理论的探索进程 ,坎坷曲折。在初期确立了唯物史观的主导地位 ,并努力运用于中国历史诸问题的讨论 ,其间受到左的错误思想的干扰 ,陷入困境乃至歧途。拨乱反正后 ,史学理论研究空前活跃 ,很多问题重新引起讨论和反思。立足中国生动具体的历史和国情 ,坚持唯物史观的指导 ,独立思考 ,进行实事求是的科学研究 ,是人们的共识 ,也为新世纪学术的发展和繁荣 ,奠定了扎实的基础。

The latter half of the 20 th century witnessed the rough process of development of the theoretical exploration of Chinese historiography. Earlier in this period, the leading position of historical materialism was established and many scholars attempted to apply it to the discussion on those issues concerning Chinese history. During this period, the discussion got bogged down in predicament due to the interference of the erroneous ultra-left trend of thought. After the rectification of all reversals of right and wrong, the theoretical study of historiography saw unprecedented revitalization, with many issues rekindling discussion and reflection. It has become the shared view to base our study on the vivid and specific history and national conditions of China, adhere to the guidance of historical materialism, and to think things out for oneself and conduct scientific researches in a matter-of-fact way. All this has also laid a solid foundation for the academic development and prosperity of historiography in the new century.
