异化还是移植——关于中国文化翻译走向的思考

Foreignization or Acculturation: Some Reconsiderations on Cultural Translation——Thought on the Trend of Cultural Translation in China

由于结构主义的束缚,国内的归化/异化之争基本上还是直译/意译之争的延续,在这种语境下宣扬异化主导论会导致生译硬译之风的蔓延,给翻译造成不应有的损失。针对异化主导论的危害,本文试图借用Lefevere的"移植"理论窥测中国文化翻译走向,并据此评析归化/异化论争的症结,指出移植是文化翻译的可行策略,是翻译冲破结构主义藩篱的必要途径。

Due to the constraints of structuralism,China's controversy over domestication & foreignization is reduced to the continuation of the literalversesfreetranslation disputeIn such context,foreignizationoriented translation would be more likely to do harm than to enhance the cultural translation in ChinaTo this end,this paper intends to restore the acculturation theory so as to get an insight into the orientation of China's cultural translationThe paper summarizes the pitfalls of the domesticationversesforeignization controversy and suggests that acculturation should be a way out to the breaking of the constraints of structuralism and to the prosperity of China's cultural translation
