An introduction is made of the inherent laws of disciplinary formation and development and the characteristics and trends of development in modern disciplines. An analysis is made of the practice in which Xi'an Shiyou University has restructured its colleges, departments and disciplines on the basis of different disciplinary clusters. An exposition is made of the importance of strengthening disciplinary construction to improving collegiate management and enhancing collegiate strength.
