This paper discusses the dominance of the American dollar, its benefit and cost and its influence on Chinese economy. It argues that the dominance of the American dollar is an expression of economic globalization. In such a context, China′s opening policies will inevitably help to increase the dominance of the American dollar. The effect of such dominance plays a positive role in China′s economic reforms and the development of its financial market in particular.
