经世致用 变法图强——论19世纪中叶启蒙思想家魏源

National Administration and Political Reform: On Wei Yuan, a Great Thinker in the 19th Century

魏源是19世纪的启蒙思想家,他主张读书治学均要以经世致用为本,强烈呼唤改革,以改变中国贫穷落后、被动挨打的局面。同时,魏源又是一个富于实际精神的人,对于涉及国家安全、尊严以及国计民生的重大问题,诸如禁烟、海防、治河、漕运、盐务、水利等,都提出了极有价值的对策与措施。

Wei Yuan was great a thinker of enlightenment in the 19th century, who held that administering a country should be the main task of pursuing studies. He appealed strongly to the reform to change the situation of China's poverty, backwardness and being beaten. Meanwhile he was also a man full of practical thinking, who advanced some valuable suggestions and countermeasures about many vital national problems such as the national safety, economy and people's livelihood.
